TOURNAMENT RULES
Pre and Post-Game Rules
- The home team starts with the puck each game. Both teams start in their own zone (No face-offs)
- There will be an “entrance side” and an “exit side” for each ice surface. Before your game, you will use the “entrance side,” and after each game, you will use the “exit side.”
- It is crucial that you are on time waiting at the entrance door before the start of your game!
- Sudden Death Shooter (For QF, SF & Final games if the game finishes in a tie), the home team captain will select either a shooter or their goaltender (only one) to determine a winner and loser
- Goalie selected and made a save = win
- Goalie selected and scored on = lose
- Shooter selected and scores = win
- Shooter selected and doesn’t score = lose
THE SAME SHOOTER CANNOT SHOOT MORE THAN ONCE IN THE NIGHT & TEAM CAPTAINS CANNOT SHOOT
In-Game Rules
- Each Game will be only 8- 10 minutes in length
- No offsides
- No icings
- Team Captains can only score 1 goal per game
- When the whistle blows, the entire offensive team must clear the zone. Once the entire team has left the offensive zone, they may return. Play is continuous during this time.
KEEP THE SHIFTS SHORT. 30-40 SECONDS IS AN AVERAGE SHIFT LENGTH. THIS MEANS EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE A MINIMUM OF 5 SHIFTS PER GAME!
Penalties
- Penalties = Penalty Shot (taken at end of game)
- The team that draws the penalty is given the puck, and play resumes. If the player didn’t lose the puck, play continues as normal, the referee will signal a penalty and not stop the play
- All penalties are added up throughout the game, and if one team has more than the other:
- The team will not shoot if winning already
- The team will not shoot if the goal differential is larger than the shots awarded
Example: If you are losing by a goal and your team is +1 in penalty shots, your team will shoot (anyone may shoot for your team except for your captain). This does not count as a Sudden Death Shooter.
STANDINGS TIE BREAKERS
- Round robin games final scores will be win(2pts), ties(1pt), loss (0pts)
- 2-WAY TIE: POINTS, HEAD-TO-HEAD, GOALS AGAINST, MOST WINS, COIN FLIP
- 3-WAY TIE: POINTS, GOALS AGAINST, MOST WINS, DOUBLE COIN FLIP
